Ruth’s spirit

Ruth’s spirit came to me twice yesterday in the form of a beautiful swallowtail butterfly. As I returned home from my morning walk, she was sitting right in front of me on the sidewalk

This swallowtail was earthbound (making her easier to photograph), but later that afternoon, as I sat in front of my friend’s garden window, swallowtail appeared again, joyfully swooping and soaring, in full view, for a good five minutes.

IMG_3630It’s not surprising that Ruth would speak in butterfly. It’s a language she knows. She wore a beautiful necklace made of a butterfly wing. I have one just like it that we bought together at the Artisan Center in Denver.

Years ago, at the first place Ruth and Edy lived in Austin, she and I created a butterfly ceremony. The apartment was so small that there was no place for Ruth to do her healing work, so she had draped off a section of a room. (She had a knack for making even the smallest place beautiful and sacred.) We were asking the space what it wanted and her eyes landed on a lovely shadow box of embroidered and sequined butterflies one of her sisters had made. “These butterflies want to be free,” she said, and in short order we had “liberated” them from their frame, blessed them, and hung them all over the healing space . . . creating pure magic.

For me, in her uniquely fabulous, loving way, Ruth is everywhere now. For the week prior to her passing, I was blessed by her spirit playing hand in hand with mine as I was with Sai Maa, my spiritual teacher. There is joy in my every thought of her. I love you, my beautiful butterfly being!

Story for Ruth and Brian

My beloved husband, Raja Rao , was one of India’s most respected authors,a professor of Indian Philosophy at U.T. in Austin ,and far above all else,a profoundly spiritual person. I always felt he was the true Indian ambassador to the West as he brought Indian philosophy to Europe and America. He” lived “Indian Philosophy with an irrepressible , joyous, courageous enthusiasm ,every moment of his long life. He shared the Wisdom of India ,giving whole heartedly equally, to every person he met, from a young student ,a poor peasant in France, to heads of state and world class scientists and scholars. He was my beloved husband and our marriage shines brighter in my heart now than ever before. In the deepest Truth, Raja was the most devoted disciple I have ever met. He was the humble disciple of his Great Sat Guru, Sri. Atmananda.

I met Ruth during the time of my husband’s long stroke related illness. We had reached a crisis point when he could no longer swallow due to nerve damage from the repeated small strokes. I had been studying crystals with friends as a hobby and was struck with the idea that Austin must have someone who can perform true healing with crystals. I began my search by calling The Herb Bar to see if they knew of anyone with this gift. I was told ,yes indeed they knew someone ,and she worked right there in the Herb Bar. The moment I saw Ruth, i knew she was the person who could help us. She had one of the most beautiful, pure, saintly faces I had seen in America, and a godly presence. She began a series of crystal healing sessions that continued for several years. She not only kept Raja swallowing, but each treatment helped him feel tremendously better overall. She generously reduced her fee to enable us to continue the treatments indefinitely . Raja could often not speak by this time, but each time Ruth came, he would beam her a glorious smile, and hold her hand. We were both so happy to see her and loved her dearly. Each treatment was different ,as she performed her unique healing gift.

The most beautiful moment we all shared was on the last day of my beloved husband’s life. It was time for him to leave,as he could continue no longer in the physical. By Grace, this time of leaving was perfectly choreographed as every moment of his holy life had been. He had been put to bed the last four days, his great heart no longer able to tolerate any food or liquids which had been given by the last month by stomach tube. Ruth came over to help me get him up into a chair, bath him and give fresh sheets and clothes. I can honestly tell you that this became a most holy ceremony ,like bathing the feet of Christ before His Leaving. I use these words to express the experience the best way i know how. We were all three lost in this sacred worship. I feel only Ruth could have been the person to share this with us. My beloved husband passed away at midnight, that night . He went Home, entering the Feet of his SAT Guru, Sri. Atmananda.

Ruth then helped me during my time of all consuming grief. Her treatments helped me stay balanced and I still have a message she ” received “ and wrote out for me, during one treatment, in a special box on my dresser. I will keep it always. After some time, sadly, I lost touch with Ruth but thankfully ran into her at the Herb Bar,probably just before she left for Colorado . This past Saturday I went to the Herb Bar for the first time in a long time,to purchase some herbs. Dear Jennie told me about Ruth’s illness which shocked and saddened me. She shared the web site with me and I had so hoped the message I left could have been read to her before she passed. I still hope it was but realize she must have received it on a deeper level in any case . I am THANKFUL that I was blessed to be back in touch for her very last moments.

I know Ruth touched many many lives with her pure ,great love and I will treasure reading all the stories, testaments to Love.

Namaste’,
